Original Global Soul

Heidi McCurdy is a singer and songwriter known for her sultry voice, funky grooves and authentic expression. Fans appreciate her rich harmonies and captivating melodies that invite you to sing along. As a lover of both composition and improvisation, her performances are infused with the soulful spark of spontaneity. She weaves together influences from jazz, neo-soul, R&B, and world music for a sumptuous tapestry of sound.

Heidi’s 2006 pop/soul CD “Fickle Mind” received songwriting awards and was featured on TV and national radio. She is excited to be in the studio again this year recording a new collection of original songs, inspired by the magic of Music, the beauty of dreams, the mystery and wonder of the natural world, and our collective power to create positive change.

Early in her career, she co-founded the world fusion bands Maisha and Yellow Belly which had an avid following in Vancouver and toured across Canada. Through the years she has also performed with bands such as The Alexander Browne Orchestra, Bittersweet, and Johnny Ferreira and the Swing Machine. Most recently she toured BC theatres and jazz clubs with Supernatural – a Santana Tribute, fronted by Guitar Player Magazine Superstar Finalist Doug Towle.

Current performances with her “Urban Tribe” of accomplished musicians highlight her original songs and also feature jazz and neo-soul standards by influences such as India Arie, Beady Belle, Stevie Wonder, Sade and Erykah Badu.

Heidi now also offers sound healing performances and trainings, for yoga studios, wellness events, conferences, spiritual communities, women’s groups and meditation circles. For these sessions, Heidi tunes in to the music of the moment, sharing healing songs, mantras, and intuitive improvisations. The resonance of crystal bowls and layered vocal harmonies, combined with the ancient call of the drum, create a blissful and enchanted ambience that enhances wellbeing on levels of heart, body, mind, soul and spirit.

Having cultivated her own intimate relationship with the Muse, Heidi is a believer in the profound medicine of music - its power to heal, transform, elevate and connect us. She loves to help others to free their own authentic voice, so she shares wisdom gathered from over 20 years of creation, performance, study and facilitation in her choir and transformational courses and workshops on singing, sound healing, creativity and improvisation.

The voice of the Muse is wild and wise…listen.
